ABORTION: BRIEF REFLECTIONS
ON THE RIGHT TO LIFE: Dr. Genival Veloso de França,Professor
of Bioethics, Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros
- Brasil
In
addition to express his opinion, the author presents some reflections of
other authors and personalities. concerning the most elementary, irrefragable
right: the one of living. Even considering the most adverse, difficult
situations in the perverse Brazilian reality, he shows that present awareness
tends more and more to safeguard human life and preserve its environment.
He also points out the fact that abortion is not a cause, but a consequence;
and it will always have its solutïon as a social phenomenon by means
of political proposals capable of deeply reaching the distressing elernents
that afflict the women who provoke abortion. Finally, the author affirms
that abortion is only permitted by Penal Codes and Code of Medical Ethics
if it is practised to save the mother's life or if pregnancy results from
rape. He also emphasizes that some isolated cases of abortion of anencephalic
fetuses are not a mode of eugenic abortion, but a way of intervention in
a life scientifically unable to exist by itself.

TO
DIE WITH DIGNITY Dr. Patrick Wagner Grau, Peruvian Medical Professional

It

not hiding the end of life and give it its natural place: we must educate
ourselves for thanatos -mostly the health professionals-. All of us have
a right to experience our death with compassion and humanitarism from the
others.
SUICIDE
AND EUTHANASIA Lic. M. A. Paz y Miño, PERUVIAN
INSTITUTE OF APPLIED PHILOSOPHY/AERPFA
Suicide
since much time ago has been seen as an rational alternative to social
and public humiliation. Also it has been looked for desperately in times
of terrible anguish. For teists only God has a right on life and death.
For both unbelievers on supernatural and believers on human freedom, man
has a right not only to choose how to live but how to die. Hence euthanasia
should be a legal and moral option permissible too.
